1. Information We Collect
Newsletter Subscriptions
If you subscribe to the Wayfinder News newsletter, we collect your email address and/or Discord username. We use this information solely to deliver newsletter issues to you. We do not sell or share subscriber data with third parties.
Usage Data
We collect standard server logs including IP addresses and page requests. This data is used only for operating and debugging the Service. We do not use tracking cookies or cross-site analytics.
Wayfinder iOS AI Search
When AI search is used in the Wayfinder iOS app, we may collect search-improvement telemetry such as normalized search terms, a search hash, app version/build, result counts, result identifiers, clicked result identifiers/ranks, latency, confidence, and unresolved terms. Raw prompt text is off by default and is collected only if we deliberately enable and disclose it.
AI search telemetry is used to improve search quality, build reviewed evaluation fixtures, debug zero-result searches, and understand product interaction. We use PostHog to process this telemetry. Eval telemetry uses run-scoped anonymous identifiers, is not linked to your Wayfinder account or Discord identity, is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking, and is not sold.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To deliver newsletter issues via email or Discord DM.
- To process unsubscribe requests.
- To ensure the Service functions correctly.
- To improve Wayfinder iOS AI search quality through reviewed evals.
3. Email Delivery
If you provide an email address, we use a third-party email service provider to deliver newsletter issues. Your email address is shared with the delivery provider only for this purpose.
4. Discord DM Delivery
If you provide a Discord username for newsletter delivery, we use the Discord API to send you direct messages. We do not access your Discord messages, friends list, server memberships, or any other Discord data beyond what is needed to send you the newsletter.
5. Cookies and Tracking
Wayfinder News does not use tracking cookies or cross-site analytics. Video embeds use youtube-nocookie.com to prevent YouTube from setting tracking cookies when you view embedded videos on this site.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this policy (email delivery provider) or as required by law.
7. Data Storage
Subscriber data is stored on servers in the United States. We use reasonable security measures to protect your data.
AI search telemetry may be processed by PostHog and reviewed by Wayfinder operators before any search example becomes a durable evaluation fixture.
8. Data Retention
We retain subscriber data for as long as your subscription is active. You may unsubscribe and request deletion of your data at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter issue.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
